About N.M.

N.M. McCarty discovered her love of books thanks to a

terrifying fourth-grade teacher who had the magical ability to

turn reading assignments into life-or-death situations. She chose

to read—and never stopped—falling headfirst into fictional

worlds whenever possible. Despite training as both a doctor and

a lawyer, she eventually realized that the only thing she truly

wanted to do was get lost in an enchanted forest, a mystical

kingdom, or the occasional country manor.

When she’s not writing, she’s busy raising two extraordinary

daughters with her equally amazing husband. She also enjoys

skiing, sailing, mountain biking, rock climbing, and Irish

dancing—essentially any activity that risks life and limb—

driven by an incurable case of FOMO. If there’s an adventure to

be had, she’ll be there… unless, of course, there’s a really good

book calling her name.
